HAJI PUBLIC SCHOOL - Day 1

As promised, the Haji Public School, Breswana, came to life on Monday, May 4, 2009.
Can't tell you how nice it was to see the little kids walk in in their new uniforms and shiny faces. Some kids haven't bought their uniforms yet so they were in their old light-blue-on-navy-blue Govt School uniforms or in colour-colour-which-colour home clothes.
Here's one of the teachers, Mohd Din, leading the lovely kids in a Urdu prayer. Very famous number this throughout Jammu and Kashmir. 'Lab pe aati hai dua' and so on and so forth.

Did you see that cool kid at the end? Too much only. There are many more....
More pics soon.

New school, new kids, new everything. Some of the families hadn't made up their minds about starting their kids in our school till we had the face-to-face meeting with them the day before. So they weren't ready with everything. We've given some time in the beginning for everyone to catch up.

Very interesting. What were the parents' concerns and how did you address them? How about writing a note about the social challenges of starting a school?

Eeks. 'Note on the social challenges of' etc....? No way, Manoj, I'd die laughing midway.
Will write in about the concerns and whatnot, okay? With photographic evidence of the meeting.

What, no social revolution? How disappointing ;)

Seriously, poorly thought phrase from my side. Do write though.
